Take part in the Party’s work

Political work includes reading, research, writing and discussion as well as practical organisation. You can contribute on a particular subject or request membership. The programme provides a common reference, and each task should have a clear purpose and contact. Participation begins by stating the subject and the work you can undertake.

Research and evidence

A policy contribution should identify the question, explain the proposed change and provide the evidence on which it relies. Where possible, name the authority able to act and the practical conditions of implementation. Contributions may correct a fact, develop a measure or explain an experience of using or providing a public service. Please distinguish personal experience from claims about a whole population.

Writing and translation

Editorial correspondence can identify an inaccurate fact, a source that should be considered, a translation problem or an unclear link. State the page and passage concerned and provide a short explanation. Material for publication should identify its author and sources. The Party decides separately whether a submitted contribution is suitable for publication.

Discuss the programme

Read the relevant policy before proposing an exchange. Identify the point you wish to examine and the evidence or experience you can bring. A focused discussion can improve a measure, clarify an uncertainty or establish a useful research question. The exchange request provides a route for making that proposal.
